Service user could fall if the kitchen has slippery floor and break her back. Service user could use the knives to cut themselves or to possibly hurt another service user or member of staff. Service user left unsupervised to come from upstairs to downstairs. Service user could fall down the stairs and break her hip, neck or back which can make the service user paralyses. Hazards and potential harms for service users with dementia: Service user holding a hot cup of tea, their Joints start to ache and drop the cup on their lap. Service user could burn themselves from the hot tea and could smash the cup on the floor, which could lead to them cutting themselves. Service user gets up In the middle of the night to use the toilet; their Joint In their leg start to ache and causes them to fall to the floor. Service user could hurt their back or hip and cannot get help as they’re on the floor. Service user left to take own painkillers.

Service user could overdose on the painkillers as they’re arthritis is so painful, so they take more than recommended. A stroke is a serious medical condition that occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off. There are two main causes of strokes: chemical (accounting for over 80% of all cases) – the blood supply Is stopped due too blood clot hemorrhagic – a weakened blood vessel supplying the brain bursts and causes brain damage (http://www. Hazards and OFF Potential Harm Service users that have had a stroke can often get depression. The service user could self-harm themselves or even become suicidal. Paralysis of the service users face muscles means that they might not be able to communicate or feed themselves. If the service user is not properly supervised and supported at meal times they might not be able to eat properly and could become malnourished. Service user may not be able to do personal care. If the service user doesn’t wash regularly they could develop an infection.
